Economic, and Social Equity

On June 3, 2020, the JP摩根 追逐 Institute hosted a Data Dialogue to discuss racial gaps in financial outcomes, The virtual discussion included a panel of experts from the National Urban League, PolicyLink, 以及政治与经济研究联合中心,他们利用数据追踪不平等现象, leading efforts to advance economic and social equity, 并倡导确保在政策决定中考虑到所有社区面临的挑战.

Recent JPMC Institute 研究  documented large racial gaps in income and wealth. For every dollar the median White family earns, the median Black family earns just 71 cents, and the median Hispanic family earns 74 cents.  Gaps in liquid assets are twice as large.  For every dollar of liquid assets held by White families, the median Black family has just 32 cents, and the median Hispanic family just 47 cents. crisis hit.

Fiona Greig, Director of Consumer Research at the JPMC Institute, moderated the panel discussion,

Clarity of purpose and a call to action

Michael McAfee, President and 首席执行官 of PolicyLink, emphasized that the persistent and growing racial gaps in the U.S. are a result of structural racism and inaction, rather than a lack of data or policy solutions, 因为各组织多年来一直在发布研究和政策建议.

Jessica Fulton, 政治和经济研究联合中心副主席, echoed this, 当她的组织聚集在一起更准确地表达他们想要帮助谁时,分享这些, they centered on “Black communities” – Black workers, Black LGBTQ individuals, Black moms, Black dads, and so on.

Equitable, targeted policies

Marc Morial, President and 首席执行官 of the National Urban League, discussed equitable policies, 声明,为了解决和撤销公共和私人的红线, 我们必须瞄准并过度投资于最需要帮助的社区. Morial advocated for targeted policies, including income-based, place-based, and industry-based support, He noted that the U.S.

McAfee echoed support for targeted policies, 说明如果组织不针对他们的救援工作, they forfeit the right to talk about results.

Leadership and shifts in organizational perspectives

When McAfee took over as President and 首席执行官 of PolicyLink, he asked himself “does our organization deserve to exist? Importantly, 迈克菲呼吁采取行动,指出现在是领导人大胆行动的时候了, putting in the hard work and creating change, or else their organizations should go out of business. Leaders need to be respectful but disruptive. 他承认,有时这可能会很紧张,很不舒服, but as he has seen in his own team, a diverse, 充满激情的员工会让组织负起责任,并给组织施加压力以实现目标.

Morial, 他是12bet官方许多慈善项目的顾问, 赞扬JPMC在资助和推广“推进黑人道路”方面所做的工作, the JPMC Institute, and place-based initiatives, such as Advancing城市, 这是金融机构10年前没有做过的事情吗.

我们感谢小组成员的专家见解和观点, which are invaluable as we all reflect on our roles 支持变革,推动社会更加公平.
